So do I go with one or two? inTank recommends two lights for a larger fuge area or for the customer that wants to blast macro algae with light from all directions. In a smaller tank such as a 29 gallon or under the single light is effective. With good water flow the addition of heat is not a problem and macro algae will even grow directly against the bulb.  Two lights will produce more heat so only use them in larger setups. 

Macro algae photo-period: You can run your underwater lights for 24 hours per day or a reverse light cycle period. If you choose the shorter period of time have the underwater lights ON when the display lights of your aquarium are OFF.
